Staples is a Canadian office supply retailer founded in 1991 by Jack Bingleman.

In 1993, the first Quebec store was opened under the name Bureau en Gros. During the first 5 years of business, Staples had grown substantially, and by 1995, there were 50 Staples stores in Canada.

Over the years, Staples had several names. Staples was formerly known as The Business Depot and then Staples Business Depot, before the name Staples Canada Inc. became official in 2008. More than just a popular source for all things office-related, Staples is actually the largest office supply chain in Canada.

In 2017, Staples became a privately-owned company run by Sycamore Partners with headquarters in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Today, Staples has a network of over 300 stores across Canada in cities such as Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton, Montreal and Mississauga.
